Indonesia Finance Ministry Seeks to Collect Rp 100 Trillion More in Taxes in 2011
Indonesia aims to lift tax collection by Rp 100 trillion ($11.17
billion) in 2011 to 12 percent of gross domestic product, Finance
Minister Agus Martowardojo said on Wednesday.
“Next year, for 2011, we will increase tax by an additional Rp 100
trillion. The target for this year is around 700 trillion (rupiah). So
it will become 800 trillion (rupiah). It will be 12 percent of GDP,” he
The government is trying to increase tax collection to improve its
long-term finances as it seeks to achieve an investment grade credit
rating in the coming years.
